Sandy has been collecting Hubley cast iron doorstops, doorknockers and paperweights for 40 years. Her collection is mostly Christmas and other holidays themed such as rabbits, turkeys. She also has collected flower 🐸.
They were very popular until early 1950s. The metal cage option allowed for stems to be inserted at various angles.
We like to use them to hold vintage Christmas picks or in staging.
Here is a Golden State Frog Manufacturing round white celluloid plastic flower frog. The original Flowerette model. These were made in 1930-40s.
While Dazey is the primary patent holder, "Golden State" and similar branded, green, or silver-painted wire cage frogs were popular in the 1920s–1930s.
